Get UP Get FIT: CTE race on the Digital Silk Road
Covid-19 has created an unprecedented environment for living and working in Europe. China Telecom (Europe) Ltd. continues to ensure the health and safety of our people, customers, partners and stakeholders. From the beginning, we followed the advice of local governments across European offices and arranged for all our employees to work from home as we wanted everyone to #WorkFromHome #SaveLives #StaySafe.
More than a year later, some European countries are taking tentative steps to open up. We continue to monitor the latest policies on the ground. Our top priority remains keeping our team safe.
Even though our team is still working from home, we are doing our best to ensure they are healthy, both physically and mentally. One of the biggest issues associated with working from home is the lack of regular exercise. For many people working from home, the commute is just getting out of their bed to their desk a few feet away.
Now that summer is upon us, we can finally spend more time outside. We want to motivate our people to get out of their office chairs and engage in regular physical activity. To enable this, we are launching the Get UP Get FIT: CTE race on the Digital Silk Road Challenge.
Together with our 300+ employees across Europe, we want to cover the distance from London to Beijing along our Digital Silk Road within 4 weeks. The distance covered is approximately 8,000 kilometres. For this company-wide competition, our employees will be encouraged to participate in tracking their walking, running, swimming and more.
In addition, a special competition for families is integrated into the challenge. This is to encourage our employees to spend more time with their families in getting up and getting fit with their partners, children and others they see as family.
China Telecom (Europe) is supporting the World Land Trust
As part of our challenge we are supporting World Land Trust through a fundraising campaign. This charity works for the conservation of endangered environments and is fitting for our company-wide challenge to going out into nature to Get UP Get FIT.
As this is a great organisation that works to save the natural environment for generations to come, you can support this campaign and make any donations towards our fundraising goal by visiting the Just Giving fundraising page for World Land Trust page we created. We thank you in advance for supporting our initiative.
