Keeping our customers, partners and employees safe during COVID-19 outbreak

At China Telecom (Europe) Ltd. (CTE) we care about the wellbeing of our customers, partners and employees. We’re committed to helping to minimise the spread of COVID-19. We have been updating our advice to employees regularly, to keep everyone around the business as safe as we can.

We’re working to protect our customers and partners by encouraging meetings using remote working technology wherever possible. Some meetings with customers or partners and our employees have to be in person, so we’re making sure every meeting is a safer meeting. We’ve put special protection for our visitors into every office. That includes disposable medical masks, disposable rubber gloves, disinfectant alcohol and alcohol hand sanitiser. We’re disinfecting and deep cleaning all our public areas, offices and meeting rooms every day.

We’ve also briefed all our employees to wash their hands frequently and to disinfect their phones and keys after travelling.

We’re helping our mobile customers of CTExcel (the mobile arm of CTE) across Europe to keep in touch with their family and friends in China. We’ve extended the “one-card-two-number” service, free of charge, so they can receive and make more free calls.

To keep our employees safe we have suspended all non-critical business travel and events. That will last until the World Health Organisation, UK Government and relevant local authorities across Europe announce that precautionary measures are no longer required.

We’ve encouraged all employees to work from home if they’re able and kept our offices open for everyone who prefers or needs to come into the office. We’ve provided extra guidelines on office hygiene, including regularly airing the office and handwashing, and put up posters to remind everyone.

We hope our customers, suppliers and partners will support us as we work together to minimise the spread of COVID-19. We want to keep everyone healthy and safe, while we maintain connections between Europe and China with our telecommunication solutions.
